Polynesian Festival

I was making my way to University hall when I spotted a giant event going on in Kellogg Plaza. I was wondering what it was but I just ignored it because I had to meet up with my roommate for the Tukwut Leadership workshop.
After the workshop we decided to check out all the ruckus. We were casually walking by and we found out they had free food because we found out from the big line they had. Woo! Nothing better than free food, and the Polynesian food was really good. We had this cabbage and meat stuff that was so delicious. The dancers were really good. They moved like ninjas and the live music was awesome. The music was live and they had live drummers and cool dance moves. Everyone was really nice. I even bought a snow cone. The decorations were really cool and we even took a picture at the photo booth with the people that were dressed up there. They were so skinny and good looking.
At the end of the day it was an overall good experience. Getting free food and getting it fast helped me out a lot. The free food led me there and the music and dancing made me stay. It was really enriching and I enjoyed it a lot. They understood that entertainment leads a crowd. Since I did not really know what was going on, everyone was nice. I had people asking how the festival was going and if the food and dance was good.

BLUE CREW!

BLUE CREW!
So I drag my roommate Ivette with me everywhere I go. This event happened to be the screening of the documentary “Bro Code” at the UVA commons. I brought a ton of my own food and was so excited. When we got there they decided to cancel it because not only did not that much people turn out, but there were girls and no guys….and they were aiming for more of a male community. Whoops. This guy was wearing a blue crew shirt so I just said “hey! You in blue crew?” and he said “yeah” and then I said “wait! When do you guys meet because I am really interested in joining” So he told us there was a game that night and I was just like “NO WAY! CAN ME AND MY ROOMMATE COME?” and he said yeah of course, because it is against the law to say no to weirdo’s.
He told us to meet him at the UVA fountain at 7 P.M. so me and my roommate hauled our butts because she had to get all pretty for all the fly guys she could stare at. We got to the fountain at exactly 7 and no one was there. Well there were these two girls and I slowly started to creep next to them and it ended up they were waiting for their ride so I just looked like a creep…. Yeah. We ran inside and asked about the Blue Crew and the girl just said that she did not know but she just saw them. SO THEY DIDN’T LEAVE, I thought. We finally got in contact with them and we got….get this…..FREE T-SHIRTS!!! WHOOP WHOOP! We even saw the mascot change.
The game was the girl’s volleyball game against La Sierra University. When everyone was ready to leave we did not know how we were getting there but this guy offered us a ride so I just thought “get into a random stranger’s car? Why not?” The people we rode with were freaking hilarious! Apparently we were in the car with the president of ASI and the guy dressed up as a mascot. They were great people and could not make me and Ivette stop laughing! When we finally arrived to the game and everyone was so pumped up! I could not stop cheering and everyone was so into it! I even let this guy paint my entire face! Complete with a mustache and eyeglass painted on! I loved all the emotion and all the support! They kept saying chants but I had no idea what they were saying so I just clapped. I clapped a lot.
Out of nowhere the fire alarm sounded. What just happened? A fire alarm? Really. We had to all exit the building and wait ten minutes, then go back inside when the alarm finally ended. We went back inside to cheer the team on. The girl’s volleyball team here is amazing! They kept going and were jumping all high and spiking all amazing! By the end of the game there were a lot of people on our side. They were all cheering but they all looked older than me and Ivette so we felt all cool and special. I screamed a little too loud though because people kept looking at me like I was obnoxious but I was being obnoxious for our team, so whatever.
When the game ended everyone cheered because our team won! We could not help but celebrate this awesome win! Ivette and I took a picture with the cougar because I totally want a memory and I remembered that I needed proof that I was there. On the ride to our dorm, we discovered that our designated driver was the president of ASI! We had no idea and continued to talk and chat. I had so much fun I am pretty sure I am going to be involved with it in the future! Blue Crew was an awesome experience and I enjoyed it so much!

Today, 9/4/2012 I went to the Student Org Fair! I took a pic with the civility cougar and pledged the civility act! I got a free t-shirt and signed up for the creative writing club and communications club. I even visited the LGBTQA open house! Everyone was very welcoming! I had so much fun looking at all the different student Organizations! I even got free hummus and pita chips. Everyone here is really committed to helping you out and giving out information.
I went to Intravarsity's first Large Group/Carnival Dance Party of the year on Wednesday September 29th, 2012. I met new people from our school, Palomar, and Mira Costa college. We prayed, danced, ate, played games. They even had a kissing booth(that was actually you guessing what kiss flavor it was). I attended the small group today and ate froyo and costco pizza. It was so fun!
